EDIT A PATTERN

A bank hosts 16 patterns. A pattern consists of 16 sequencer data like trigs. A single trig correspond to a sixteeth note in a four quarter beat.

Adding notes

Press [EDIT] key to bring up pattern edit mode. Followed by pressing [TRIG] key will select the pattern for editing.

Press [TRIG] key to enable note trigger at the desired position. To remove a note trigger press [TRIG] key again. A note trigger has the property to be greedy. The length of a note is determined by the space that is still left in the pattern.

Example: creating a pattern with a quarter note on the third and forth beat

  • clear your pattern by removing all trigger already set
  • press [TRIG] key at position 3. This brings up a half note on the third beat of your pattern.
  • press [TRIG] key at position 4. This brings up a quarter note on the forth beat of your pattern. The note length of the trigger at position 3 will be shortened to a quarter note.

Adding rests

The length of a note can be also restricted by insert a rest trigger. To insert a rest press [REST] key. This brings up the insert rest mode. Then press [TRIG] key to insert rest trigger at the desired position. A rest trigger is marked by an 'OFF' label. To remove a rest press [TRIG] key again.

Example: creating a pattern with a eight note on the third and a quarter note on the forth beat

  • clear your pattern by removing all trigger already set
  • press [TRIG] key at position 3. This brings up a half note on the third beat of your pattern.
  • press [REST] key. Then press [TRIG] key at position 3+. The trig at position 3+ is not labeled as 'OFF'. Observe how the note length of the trigger at position 3 will be shortened to a eight note.
  • press [TRIG] key at position 4. This brings up a quarter note on the forth beat of your pattern.

Adding triplets

A triplet is a rhythm playing three notes in the space of two. That is, three evenly spaced notes in the space of two notes of the same rhythmic value.

To add triples to your pattern press [TRPL] key. This brings up the insert triple mode. Then press [Trig] key to insert a triple at the desired position. Like a note trigger triples are greedy. By default a triple takes the space that is still left in the pattern. For example inserting a triplet trigger at the first beat of an empty pattern will produce a half note triplet. Like the note trigger triplets are shortened by taking away some space by adding more note events or rests.

Example: creating a pattern with a eight note triplet on the first beat

  • clear your pattern by removing all trigger already set.
  • bringing up insert triplet mode by pressing [TRPL] key. Press [TRIG] key at position 1. We get a half note triplet expanded over the whole pattern.
  • an eighth note triplet rhythm is 3 notes played in the space of 2 eighth notes. To shorten our triplet we can insert now a note or rest trigger. Press [REST] key. Then press [TRIG] key at position 2. This will shorten our triplet to the length of a quarter note respectively two eight notes. The triple is shortened to an eight note triplet. The trigger at position 2 is now labeled as 'OFF'.

To exit the edit pattern mode press [ESC] key. Your pattern is already saved.
